Accessibility Statement

The families we serve include people with disabilities, and so do the people who love them. We want this site to work for all of them.
Our target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we have done
- Text and interface colors are tested against WCAG contrast ratios, including button fills, small uppercase labels and icons.
- Every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The page uses a single main heading and an ordered heading structure.
- Interactive controls are reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- The eligibility self-check uses real form controls with associated labels and announces its result to assistive technology.
- Layout is responsive down to 300px wide with no horizontal scrolling, and text can be resized without loss of content.
- Motion is limited, and animation is disabled automatically for visitors whose system requests reduced motion. Content is never dependent on animation to become visible.
- The Spanish version of this site is a fully translated page with correct language attributes, not a machine-translation widget.
Known limitations
Some services we link to, including our eligibility check, referral form and careers pages, are hosted on other platforms we do not fully control. We are working with those providers on accessibility, and in the meantime we will help you complete anything on those pages by phone.
