TracheostomyA tracheostomy turns a parent into a full-time airway manager.

VentilatorVentilator-dependent children are the highest-acuity cases in the Georgia Pediatric Program, and the ones the program exists for.

Feeding tubePump alarms, night feeds, granulation tissue, and the day it pulls out entirely.

Cerebral palsyLifting, positioning, feeding, medications, therapy carryover, and the slow strain on a parent’s own body.

Spina bifidaCatheterization every few hours, a bowel program that cannot slip, a shunt to watch, and skin that has to be checked because your child may not feel the sore forming.

Seizure disordersRescue medication that has to be given correctly and fast, a log the neurologist can actually use, and nights where nobody in the house sleeps properly.

HydrocephalusHydrocephalus care is mostly watchfulness, punctuated by episodes that move fast.

Oxygen dependenceConcentrators, tanks, tubing, saturation limits and the judgement call about when a desaturation is a problem.

NICU graduatesA NICU discharge hands a family a monitor, a feeding plan, sometimes oxygen or a trach, and a car seat.
